The work involves the construction of a mountain road of 24.75 km to replace the Provincial Road 12 in the section between the Punta Negra and Caracoles dams on the San Juan River in the province of the same name.
In this section the route was left under water after the reservoir of the Punta Negra dam was filled, preventing access to the Caracoles hydroelectric power station located upstream.
The work includes 7 bridges, tourism spots for recreation and viewpoints making up an attractive route that will serve for both tourism purposes and to allow the operation of the Caracoles hydroelectric plant.
