DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

The work carried out is part of the Alfalfal Hydropower Plant tunnel system which is located in the Olivares River basin, which is a tributary of the Colorado River, 70 km southeast of Santiago de Chile

The project involved building the intake infrastructure and conduits for the water from the Olivares River and its tributary, the Arroyo La Jarilla, both making up the Colorado River basin.

Two main areas were involved: underground works and associated works

The underground works consisted of digging a 5.4 km tunnel in sections of between 10 and 17 m2 and digging the vertical well of La Jarilla which was 150 m long and 4 m2 across. The associated works involved building the Olivares
