National Road no. 14 is one of the busiest routes in Argentina as it is the entry point for commercial traffic coming from Brazil. Doubling the width of the carriageway along Route 14 has turned it into a safe land connection for the entire MERCOSUR.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Doubling the existing road along 35 km of the National Road 14 as part of the corridor in the provinces of Entre Rios and Corrientes.

The basic work and surfacing has a crowning width of 11.30 m composed of a paved roadway of 7.30 m, outer shoulders of 3 m (2.5 m surfaced and 0.50 m ground covered with grass) and an inside shoulder of 1 m wide covered with soil and grass.

The work included forest clearing, grubbing and land clearance, building embankments with and without special compaction, tack and bituminous primer with EM-1, special layers, two black asphalt concrete footings of 0.08 m and 0.07 m respectively and also road surface of asphaltic concrete 0.06 m thick.

A range of necessary decorative work was required as well, including bridges, walls, drains, sewers, protective curb, placing metal railings, guardrails, removing and putting up fences, horizontal markings and vertical signage.
